Application of Finite Element method by Compression of a Cylinder,

A great variety of modelling techiques is available today in design and development. The paper, based on the analysis of the various formulas that can be found in literature, obtained experimental and simulation results outlines the application of an approach derived from the research of the finite element method (FEM)in metal forming and particularly in the forging process. Essential features of model development, using a commercial general-purpose finite element system, are described. The simulation and experimental results for the compression of cylindrical billet are discussed and evaluated.
