The influence of the welding parameters upon the pitting corrosion of TIG and MIG welding joints on the thin plates of high alloyed steel
Research of the influence of welding parameters upon the corrosion resistance of welded joints has been reported ion this paper. The research has been conducted upon the high alloyed steel of AISI 304 (X5CrNi 18 10) grade, the used plates being 3 mm thick. MIG and TIG welding processes (With and without filler material) have been applied. Only one run has been made, and the joint fit-up was of I shape. For both processes and each joint, heat input was approximately of the same value. Such value has been achieved by a combinations of welding current and appropriate welding speed. Investigation of the corrosion resistance of welded joints has been made on the acceptable joints, produced at approximately same heat input.
