Design practice and product development planning
The environmental impact of industrial products is of growing importance both for the public discussion and in the complex decision finding process for future product concepts. Especially in the situations where more and more conflicts of requirements and goals occur between technical, economical, ecological and strategic issues in product development. The paper will examine two concepts used for the product lifetime extension, the robustness and remanufacture. The design implications of those concepts are examined.
