Surface Roughness of the Surface Milled with Ball Nose End Mills
It seeems that high speed machining (HSM) is a key driving force for the development in the domain of cutting theory and machine tool design and control in this decade. The increase of cutting speed and feed rate by factor of 5-10 allows reduction of machine time and increase of surface quality. This paper presents the results of invetigation of infulence of the cutting data and position of cuuting tool axes in regards to the feed rate direction on the surface roughness. The obtained results proves that better surface roughness should be expected when angle between cutting tool axes and machined surface is different then 90, what is of high importance when comparing 3-axes and 5-axes machine tools, same as when preparing cutting tool path.
