SIMULATION OF STEEL QUENCHING
SIMULATION OF STEEL QUENCHING IS A COMPLEX PROBLEM, DEALING WITH ESTIMATION OF MICRO STRUCTURE AND HARDNESS DISTRIBUTION, AND ALSO DEALING WITH EVALUATION OF RESIDUAL AND DISTORTIONS AFTER QUENCHING. ON THE BASIS OF CONTROL VOLUME METHOD THE ALGORITHM FOR PREDICTION OF HARDNESS DSTRIBUTION, RESIDUAL STRESSES AND STRAINS IN QUENCHED STEEL SPECIMENS WITH COMPLEX GEOMETRIES HAVE BEEN ESTABLISHED. THE ALGORITHM IS COMPLETED TO SOLVE 2-D SITUATION PROBLEMS SUCH AS THE QUENCHING OF COMPLEX CYLINDERS, CONES, SPHERES, ETC. DEFORMATIONS DUE TO PHASE CHANGES HAVE BEEN TAKEN IN ACCOUNT IN THERMOPLASTIC ANALYZE OF STEEL QUENCHING. THE MATHEMATICAL MODEL HAS BEEN TESTED BY COMPARISON WITH EXPERIMENTAL DATA. THE TEST HAS SHOWS THAT THE MODEL DESCRIBES A PHENOMENOM OF STEEL QUENCHING WITH QUITE SATISFACTORY ACCURACY.
