Ontologies in the Higher Education Domain
When it comes to knowledge representation and reasoning, ontologies currently occupy a respectable place. Web ontologies, which enable even more sharing and reuse compared to conventional ontologies, are emerging as new promising technologies. Although many domains are already clarified by means of ontologies, there is also a number of those that yet have to be. Owing to the Bologna process and new legislation, studies at the universities in Croatia are becoming an increasingly more intriguing domain. In this paper, a university studies ontology development is presented. Also, differences in ontology extending to a concrete example (application ontology) on the one hand and a wider domain area (occupational studies) on the other are discussed.
