Knowledge Base Amalgamation using Higher-Order Logic-Based Language HiLog
Increasing number of data sources that are used for decision support in business caused the need for the integration of all sources and their unique representation to a user. Sources we want to integrate can be internal (local databases, etc.) or external (Internet, etc.). Every of these sources may have different query language, with different syntax, semantic and querying power. Because of that different kinds of problems may arise. Most common problems are inconsistency, partiality of data, and conflicts between sources. We need a language powerful enough to solve those problems. In this paper I will show the way to solve this problems using logic-based language HiLog as mediator language. Different strategies for solving problems will be presented, as well as HiLog solutions for those strategies
