Stresses determination in femur by the 2nd order theory
The study of the role of axial compressive force in bending of the femur is carried out on a simplified mechanical model by the 2nd order theory. Amplification factor, defined as a ratio of the bending moment determined by the 2nd order theory to the one determined by the 1st order theory is obtained. As the magnitude of this factor reaches only up to 1.05, a conclusion is drawn that determination of stress in femur by the 2nd order theory has no practical significance.
