An analysis of possibility of induction hardening of ferritic ductile iron
The possibility of induction hardening of ferritic ductile iron with high surface hardness, i.e. high wear resistance was investigated. The parameters of ferritic iron induction hardening with the special heat pretreatment and without it were analysed. According to recommended elemental composition of ferritic ductile iron and required mechanical properties the appropriate parameters of everyone treatment was determined. A technological comparison of the production ability and applicability in machine building was done between different heat pre-treatment for improvement of ferritic ductile iron induction hardening performances. Limitations in application of investigated heat treatments were done from compariso of mechanical properties between heat treated specimens. The process of perlitization of metal matrix by normalisation is a best treatment for induction hardening of feritic ductile iron.
