Dynamic Analysis of Tower Buoy in Regular Waves
A tower buoy is a specific slender offshore structure and its dynamic behaviour in waves can be regarded as a hydroelastic problem. The problem is formulated analytically by the differential equation of tower motion as a beam. Numerical procedure by the finite element method is worked out. Tower response in regular waves in the case of large and small amplitude motion is analysed in the time domain, while the linearised problem is solved in the frequency domain. A parametric analysis is performed and nonlinear phenomena are pointed out.
