Heat exchange through a finned tube with circular fins of constant thickness
This paper analyses the choice of extended heating surfaces of round tubes for heat exchangers. By algebraic derivation it is proven that the extended heating surfaces have to be mounted on the tube side which has lower heat transfer coefficient. Starting from an axially symmetrical thermodynamic model of the round tube with circular fins of constant thickness, a computer program for exact determination of the thermal conductivity coefficient is developed. On an example of a tube with outer diameter f51 it is shown how the values of the thermal conductivity coefficient depend on some varied parameters, and an comparison with the values of the thermal conductivity coefficient calculated by simplified calculation is given.
