Investigation of Dynamic Strength of Ag-Pd Alloy and Hydrothermal ceramics
The aim of study: 1) Determine fatigue strength of interface between Ag-Pd alloy and hydrothermal ceramics. 2) Determine the inluence of thermal cycling on the fatigue strength of tested metalceramic system. Material and methods: Investigations were performed on 48 Ag-Pd alloy samples (45x12x4 mm)on which 2 mm thick hydrothermal ceramics was fused in length of 25 mm. The first group of 24 samples was dynamically loaded immediately after casting and fusing. The second group was thermocycled in the water 1000 times at temperatures of 5 C and 55 C before dynamic loading. The three-point dynamic loading test was performed in Amsler's high-frequency pulsator within the loading range from 550 N to 1200 N. The dinamic force values and number of cycles were measured until the first fracture occured between metal and ceramics. Conclusions: 1) Endurance limit for nonthermocycled sample is 850 N. 2) Endurance limit for thermocycled sample is 550 N. 3) Thermocycling reduces the fatigue strength of the Ag-Pd alloy and hydrothermal ceramics system for 28 %.
