Impacts of Teaching Mathematics Through E-Learning
According to some interpretations, E-learning is the part of a continuum where at the beginning technology is present as an expedient in teaching and finally it replaces classical teaching. It is one of the forms of teaching at a distance when the education is performed on-line. With this research we attempted to determine some of the impacts of teaching mathematics by using e-learner teaching materials. The research was implemented on the specimen of 78 respondents, pupils in the fourth form of primary school who had been divided in two groups. Pupils had their mechanical skills examined by Raven’s progressive matrices and the vote in the subject of mathematics was put in comparison. Based on given results inside each class we formed two identical groups. The first group of students was learning a specific teaching unit in mathematics by use of the material presented on the Internet inside the LMS company Cognita (N = 28) and the other group was learning in a classical way with a teacher, blackboard and chalk. The teaching material on the Internet was identical to the preparation of the mathematics teacher. The difference in the number of pupils in groups was restricted because of limited capacities of the computer classroom in which the research had been implemented. After the interpretation of the planned unit there was a testing for both groups of pupils. Results of this test were interpreted by different statistical proceedings in order to determine the success of such way of teaching.
