European Science Foundation Forward Look Media Studies: New Media and New Literacies - Final Conference - Plenary discussion

Sadražaj završne konferencije: “The Forward Look on Media Studies – New Media and New Literacies was designed to address some of the societal challenges posed by the profound changes in media and communication technologies and cultures over the past two decades, namely by defining a common European research agenda for media studies and specifying the institutional frameworks that would promote the organisational cohesion of media research in Europe. The Final Conference follows closely on four thematic workshops in 2012 which were devoted to defining challenges in key areas of research in media studies (see www.esf.org/mediastudies<http://www.esf.org/medi astudies>). The Final Report of the activity will include research and policy recommendations that should be discussed with a broader audience of key stakeholders before being finalised. The Conference will therefore bring together about 50 researchers, policy-makers, practitioners and other stakeholders to discuss the conclusions reached within the Forward Look, agree upon precise and realistic rcommendations and plan for their implementation. Input from this Stakeholders’ Conference will be integrated into the Final Report, which will be widely disseminated among academic and policy audiences in 2013. The intention is to provide actors and stakeholders with a more informed understanding of future challenges relating to developments in media and communication technologies and to shape research and policy agendas” (European Science Foundation).
