Preliminary evidence of impact origin of the Krk-breccia, Island of Krk, eastern Adriatic
Krk-breccia of northern Dalmatian Krk Island probably represents an impact crater infill which was created by transient crater slope failures and debris back-fall which followed soon after the impact. Breccia distribution indicates that it is confined to a crater of estimated diametre of 14 km, and characterized by modern subsidence of annular ring, which encircles a low central uplift. The age of the Krk-breccia is poorly confined and it can be (at present) only estimated as post-Lutetian.
