Smoking and Stroke

Summary: Smoking is a pandemic spread in all layers of the population. Nicotine, contained in the tobacco smoke, is markedly addictive. The majority of smokers smoke in order to fulfil their addictive need for nicotine. Along with creating addiction, nicotine is responsible for numerous hemodynamic changes that endanger the functioning of the circulatory system. All organic systems are affected by harmful activity of over four thousand chemical compounds inhaled by tobacco smoke. Most affected are respiratory and circulatory systems. Besides the mechanisms of the effects of smoking on particular systems, in the work are accentuated other aspects, as the features of addiction, reasons for smoking, the danger of passive smoking, the programs of eradication of smoking, and physician's obligations regarding smoking.
