Activities on the 2nd Cycle of Geomagnetic Information Renewal in the Republic of Croatia

The 2nd five-year Cycle on the Geomagnetic Information Renewal in Croatia started in 2017 following the 1st Cycle conducted from 2004 to 2010. The main goal of the renewed initiative is to provide an updated information on the Earth’s magnetic field declination and its annual variation over the territory of Croatia based on the geomagnetic measurements on the Croatian Geomagnetic Repeat Stations Network. The network was established within the framework of the 1st Cycle of Geomagnetic Information Renewal but was not observed since. Therefore, as expected, some of the stations of the network (30%) have had to be restored or re-established. The first campaign of geomagnetic observations out of two planned campaigns within the ongoing 2nd Cycle was performed during the 2017 and 2018. That resulted in updated geomagnetic information model for the epoch 2019.0 (updated from 2009.5) and revised geomagnetic and metadata database (updated coordinates of the sites, station descriptions and documentations, etc.). The same will be further updated after the second campaign in 2020 with the final outcome of the ongoing initiative, i.e. geomagnetic information model, epoch 2020.5.
