Prikaz slučaja kroz AB zadatak

Up to date literature refers to a number of studies, which deal with AB response as a reliable indicator of the child˘s cognitive development as early as in his/her first year of life. The original idea comes from Piaget (1954) as a part of his IV. stage of sensorimotor development. Task performance represents the infant&#8217 ; s gradual comprehension of the fact that objects do exist independently from our own actions. Piaget refers to it as the Object Permanence Test. Many other authors who followed Piaget˘s claims have come to some new results, and thus new theorical explanations, by varying and expanding AB task methods. This report gives detailed description of methods which have been used in our study, mostly referring to work of Diamond, A. (1989) who discusses this phenomenon from a neuropsychological perspective. Our paper is a part of an extensive study in which we focus on early communicative, cognitive and language development in children with perinatal brain lesions. We administered AB task to two cases of normally developing infants who were longitudinally followed between 8-12 months. The examinations took place every two weeks. Subjects had to search for a toy hidden in one of two wells (A or B) embedded in the testing table, speciffically designed for this purpose. The pattern of hiding the object, covering of the wells as well as the period of time after which children were allowed to search for the object were changed dependently upon their previous testing behaviour. All the testing situations were video-taped and were later coded following certain rules. The present results provide evidence of developmental change between 8-12 months of age as well as a good basis for further exploration of the phenomenon.
