Correlations between wind generation and load: A case study of Croatia
This paper deals with the volatility of wind power production and load observed in Croatian power system during four full consecutive years (2012-2015), based on the measured one-hour data of total load, and total wind electricity production [1]. The research goal was to investigate and establish relations, if any, between temporal variability of load and wind generation, so to assess if there is any significant statistical annealing between the two phenomena, that would be beneficial from the standpoint of power system control (i.e. ancillary services, balancing). We introduce a concept of “rolling correlation” to describe possible correlations between the two on shorter time horizons.
