Environmental impact of wind turbine as a source of sound and measurements
This paper deals with noise effects from wind turbines and takes a note of the environmental impact of small wind turbines. It is assumed that small wind turbines will play a substantial part in expected future mass implementation of energy transformation from wind, either as an independent power source or as part of a hybrid power station. In that event, it is inevitable that wind turbines will be mounted as close as possible to settlements and people and produce continuous noise during work. Results of measurements of sound level and some diagrams on a small wind turbine will be presented. Measured data will be compared with calculated data produced by previously presented formulas for the prediction of sound level from wind turbines. Some corrections of formula will be given to improve prediction of sound level in future applications. The paper will also suggest some technical solutions acceptable on small wind turbines with the aim of reducing reduce noise pollution of the environment.
