APPLICATION OF INDUSTRIAL COMMUNICATION NETWORK IN STRUCTURE TESTING
Structure testing completes the process of design and structure building. It is also used in further exploitation and monitoring of the structure. Therefore it is important to approach to the testing with great studiousness. We performed lots of structure testing, especially with arc bridge testing. Several measurement systems was used for measurement relevant parameters of bridge structure (strains, accelerations, vibrations, displacements, temperature, humidity, wind direction and strength, etc.). Our new developed measurement system, based on industrial communication network (PROFIBUS), is now in use for measurement in structure testing. This paper will show the testing process, measured quantities and results that took place during testing of the Pag bridge. Testing includes static and dynamic tests in various conditions. The Pag bridge (Figure 1) is placed on the Adriatic see between land and island Pag. This is a 280m long and 28m high arc concrete bridge. Comparison of our classic analogue measurement system and new digital PROFIBUS system, as well as measured data and future possibilities of measurement system will be also presented. Data analysis will be performed for some important measurement quantities (accelerations, strains, displacements etc.). With this analysis, structure static and dynamic parameters are obtained.
