Impact of partly defolation on must and wine quality of "Malvazije istarske" variety on the short cut cordon
"Malvazija Istarska" is a domesticated variety, which is the most frequenty in viticulture of the Istrian sub-region and, with the application af adequate technology in the agroecological conditions of Istria, gives high quality wine. This paper gives the first results of partial defolation of "Malvazija Istarska" in the West-Istrian vineyard area. The results of a two year research show that partial defolation, before the flowering of grape vine, in the less insolated side of the crown improves must quality decreases Phomopsis viticola on short cut cordons. Future experiments will bi directed towards the selection of timing for a partial defolation with an aim of getting the must extraction, which is a raw material with optimal features for the production of high quality wine.
