Croatian experience with fibre reinforced shotcrete
At present, steel fiber reinforced shotcrete plays an essential role in the construction of underground structures in the world. The aim of this research work was to investigate the possibilities of wider application of fiber reinforced shotcrete to the construction of tunnels in Croatia . In this paper a presentation is given of the first research work of fiber reinforced shotcrete in Croatia. Three kinds of shotcrete specimens were tested for compressive strength, flexural strength and toughness. Energy apsorption of steel fiber reinforced shotcrete and mesh reinforced shotcrete (Q 131) was also measured. The experimental work was done according to the European Specification for Shotcrete, EFNARC 1996, on the site of the Sveti Rok Tunnel (length = 5670 m) and under laboratory conditions. The results of testing physical and mechanical properties of different shotcrete specimens have shown the advantages of steel fiber reinforced shotcrete.
