Determination of macroelements in Teucrium species growing in Croatia

Flame atomic absorption spectrometry was applied for determination of some macroelements (Ca, Fe, K, Mg, Mn, Zn) in dried aerial parts of the wild and cultivated Teucrium species (Lamiaceae) growing in Croatia: T. arduini L., T. chamaedrys L., T. flavum L., T. montanum L., T. polium L. and T. scordium L. subsp. scordioides Schreb. The procedure proposed here involves microwave-assisted sample digestion using a mixture of HNO3/H2O2. Wild specimens generally contained higher contents of Ca, K and Mn than the cultivated ones ; the opposite was true of Fe, Mg and Zn.
