Aristotelova biologija u "Exercitationes de generatione animalium" Williama Harveya
Harvey's "Exercitationes de generatione animalium" (1651) represent one of the crucial mediators between the ancient and modern theories of fertilization and embryogenesis of the living beings. In this way, Harvey's late work became a necessary prerequisite of C.F. Wolff's "Theoria generationis" (1759), which is considered to be the opening chapter of the new experimental embriology. Aristotle's biological works produced more than considerable impact on many subsequent scientists working in this field. Hence, the basic aim of this paper concerns determination of the presence and influence of Aristotle's biological works, first of all, "De generatione animalium", on Harvey's "Exercitationes de generatione animalium". Is it so on a merely empirical level or on a methodological and theoretical one, too? If Aristotle's methodological and, above all, his basic theoretical claims play the decisive role, what's the message we get about the history of the life sciences?
