Modern Induction Machine Control Methods Comparison
Many methods for induction machine control were developed over the years, and each has some advantages over the other. This paper examines Stator Field Oriented Control (S-FOC) and Direct Torque Control with modulated voltage command (DTC-SVM). These methods were selected due to their similar control structure regarding the reference input. It is assumed that S-FOC should have better performance over DTC-SVM due to it’s voltage decoupling scheme. After simulations of the induction machine during startup and load, using both control methods, it is concluded that both methods have satisfying performance regarding speed reference tracking, while DTC-SVM has higher torque ripple.
