Mathematical modeling of an array of nuclear waste containers
We consider a mathematical model describing the behavior of an underground waste repository, once the containers start to leak. Due to the high mismatch of the characteristic lengths of the model, numerical simulations on a such model are unrealistic. After exhibing a small parameter $\ep$ linking these lengths, we study the behavior of the renormalized model when $\ep$ tends to $0$. By the use of homogenization and boundary layers methods, we obtain an asymptotoc model which could be used as a global repository model for numerical simulations.
