Some Methods for Finding Product Solutions

In the planning and product development process, many methods are used. They can be divided into general methods and problem-specific methods. For educational and methodical reasons, the general methods are divaded into conventional, intuitive and discursive methods. They are not mutually exclusive, but complement each other in many ways. The results from congnitive studies indicate that changing between searching methods and searching levels has many advatages. aexamples are the switching between abstract and concrete, and between intuitive and discursive. Which method should be applied in a specific case depends on the particular problem, the available information, the state of progress, and the skills and experience of the designers. Solutions found using conventional methods can be extended and completed effectively using intuitive and discursive methods.
