The new operative technique for fixation of unstale burst thoracolumbar fractures
Introduction:Successful regneration of rat spinal medulla following to grap bridging with eighteen syngeneic intercostal nerve grafts gave hope for clinical application (Chang 1996). Harvesting of intercostal nerves from patient with spinal injury could cause further significant increase in operation time, hospital stay, blood loss and pathology of donor region. At the present, respiration and fixation of unstable fractured spine is too aggressive and time-consuming procedure. Aiming to make unstable fractured spine surgery less invasive, circumferential fixation using one approach must be developed as well as alternative to syngencic graft. In addition, the lack of sufficient amount of syngeneic nerve graft in peripheral nerve reconstruction demand our experimental study. Results: Pilot study conducted on Fisher rats receiving xenogeneic grafts Black mouse) have not shown any functional recovery. However, pilot and later main study results shown significant recovery in allogeneic group receiving MAbs, presented as WTA-tibial function index, SNCV and MNCV expressed as a percenage of the normal side.
