Primjena novih eksperimentalnih metoda kaustike i CGS interferometrije u mehanici loma kompozita
The analysis of the dynamic failure processes in composites is significant in estimating of reliability of the components of mechanical structures. The new experimental optical methods that are advantageously used in fracture mechanics are the optical method of caustics and the coherent gradient sensor (CGS) interferometry. As crucial for the assessment of the crack behavior, the stress intensity factors determination is enabled through the analysis of the experimental caustic curve. The dynamic crack initiation and growth can be recorded as CGS interferogram to obtain real time near-tip deformation and emission of stress waves. The initial results of evolution of the interfacial cracks between the core and the skins in one type of sandwich material are reported. The high-speed photography is revealed as a helpful tool for registration and proper understanding of the physical process of shear crack initialization and extensive damage afterwards.
