Celadonite-family mica in volcaniclastic rocks from NW Croatia.
Green mineral in the Early Miocene zeolitized volcanicalstic rocks from NW part of Hrvatsko zagorje, which occurs in thin veins and coatings of glass shard vesicles, was investigated by X-ray powder methods, IR spectroscopy, optical and scanning electron microscope and microprobe. According to the results investigated mineral belongs to interlayer-deficient dioctahedral micas, with low tetrahedral substitution, Fe-rich octahedral sheet in which Al is dominant cation, but it differs from known members of mica group. It is obvious that the mineral is authigenic, one variety is alteration product of volcanic glass, but its genesis is not definitely solved.
