Modeling Topology and Throughput in Distributed Query Systems
When designing computer networks, special care should be given to select the appropriate topology, mostly because of reducing and smoothing traffic load in the overall network. One of the available methods to perform this chore is to build a suitable model and perform several simulations upon. In this paper a case study is described in modeling and subsequent simulation of transaction based traffic for a distributed data base using BoNES Designer, a professional integrated package for event-driven modeling and simulation of data transfer systems which provides means for parameterized statistical model construction. Simulation results are used for subsequent topology adjustments.
