Spectroscopy of particle-hole states of 16C
The three-neutron transfer reaction (12C, 9C) has been measured on 13C and 12C targets at 230.7 MeV incident energy. The level scheme of 16C, which was known previously up to 6.11 MeV excitation energy, has been extended up to 17.4 MeV by 14 new states. The structure of these states in terms of particle - hole configurations and possible spin assignments are discussed. In 15C the spins of the states at 6.84 MeV and 7.39 MeV could be uniquely assigned as 9/2- and 7/2-, respectively.
