Peroxidase activity and isoenzymes in relation to morphogenesis in Mammilaria gracillis tissue culture
Background and Purpose: The cactus Mammillaria gracillis, cultivated in vitro, spontaneously switches from an organised to unorganised way of growth, producing a habituated[GM1] organogenic callus. Tumour tissues, induced by A. tumefaciens, do not express any organogenic potential. Peroxidase activity and isoenzyme patterns have been studied as markers of morphogenesis and cell transformation. The aim of this work was to establish a correlation between peroxidase activities and the organisation level of Mammillaria tissues as well as changes in isoenzyme patterns.
