Ratio of salt content added by irrigation with saline water and percolated from the root zone
The study investigated the fluctuation of salt content in the waters of Croatia's Lake Vrana, which are to be used for irrigation, and the effect of applying them to local soils. Lysimeter studies showed that the ionic composition of the percolate is significantly changed compared to the originally applied vrana water. For instance calcium levels were considerably increased. Large quantities of cloride were added by irrigation, but were leached out of the soil.
