The limits of human and spatial resources in tourism

The author focuses on unacceptable development activities, with a view to stopping unchecked construction and utilization of limited spatial resources in tourist destinations in Croatia. The unchecked construction of various types of accomodation facilities is becoming the greatest restriction to the development and prolongation of the tourist season, causing the tourist destination to become alienated from the true tourist market. The author concludes that the major limitation to proper environmental protection and valorization lies in the inadequate choice of dedicated, professional and uncorrupted personnel at a national and local level, especially in the field of urban planning and environmental design.
