Determining currents of cable sheaths during unbalanced loads by means of current load factor

A new method for determining sheath currents during balanced and unbalanced loads of the cable line is described in this article. The model cables are selected to represent major constructions encountered in practice. The cable line consists of three single-core cables laid in trefoil formation and touching each other. Cable sheaths are grounded at both ends. The current load factor and sequence components are the basic characteristics of the method described here. This factor is a new parameter of the cable line and it can be classified among cable data. The current load factor does not depend on the cable length. It depends on geometrical characteristics ond electromagnetic properties of the single-core cable.
