Effects of microstructural changes in a duplex steel weld on the resistance to cavitation erosion
This paper presents the investigation results of the effects of microstructural changes in the heat affected zone of a duplex steel weld on the resistance to cavitation erosion. Test samples, made of X2CrNiMoN 22 5 3 (Wst.-Nr. 1.4462) duplex steel, are isothermally heated at the temperatures of 1100o, 1200o, 1250o and 1300o C for the period of 30 minutes and subsequently cooled rapidly. Thus, a microstructure with different ratios of ferrite and austenite phases has been obtained. The microsturcture of the samples treated as mentioned above has been submitted to the qualitative and quantitative analyses, the hardness HV 0.2 has been measured, and the resistance to cavitation erosion has been investigated.
