The Trophic lavel and the Bioproduction of the Drava River in the Zimska luka (Osijek)

The trophic level and the bioproduction of water of the Drava river in the Zimska luka (Winter port) in Osijek were investigated by measuring the growth potential (AGP) of the test algae Chlorella kessleri by the bioassay method. Nitrogen was limiting element of growth of the test alga Chlorella kessleri in the water of the Zimska luka in June 1995 and August 1996, and phosphorus in the spring of 1995 ana during the summer of 1996. The AGP results indicate the presence of toxic substances in the water of the Zimska luka. According to the classification of the Middle European waters, the water of the Drava river, on the basis of AGP, was eutrophic in June 1995, and mesotrophic during the rest of the months of investigation.
