Nine isozyme systems (AAT, ACO, ACP, ADH, GPI, LAP, PGD, PRX, SOD) examined in faba bean (Vicia faba L.) showed clear banding pattern variation upon gel electrophoresis. The inheritance, possible location, and linkage analysis of 10 isozyme loci was.investigated in seven F2 families derived from plants trisomic for chromosomes 3, 4, 5, and 6. Aat-2 was located on chromosome 3 of the species and the assignment of the loci Sod-1 and Pgd-p to chromosome 6 was confirmed. The rest of the loci could not be unambiguously assigned to a specific chromosome. However, our results indicate that Aco-2 and Acp-2 must be located either to chromosome 1 or 2. Similarly, Adh-2 and Gpi-2 are located on chromosome 1, 2, or 3 while Lap-1 and Prx-3 are clearly not on chromosomes 4 and 6.
