Simulation of Bound and Quasifree Delta Production in the Reaction 12C(e, e'ppi)11
Monte-Carlo simulation for two possible mechanisms of a Delta resonance production in a reaction 12C(e, e'ppi)11C has been done. One is called quasifree delta production, where Delta_0 is produced from a bound neutron, takes all momentum transfer and flies in its direction with a large velocity. The other mechanism is bound delta production, where Delta_0 is produced inside the nucleus, which takes all the momentum transfer and consequently flies in its direction, slower by a factor M_Delta/M_12C. Decay particles p and pi- then appear at different angles and with different momenta in laboratory frame, for the two mechanisms. That can be seen on shown histograms, representing simulated proton and pion momentum distributions over their scattering angles.
