Incorporating Model Uncertainty in Ship Reliability Analysis
Uncertainty analysis of calculated extreme vertical wave bending moment, which is the most important wave load component, is performed. The main sources of uncertainty that are analyzed are: choice of wave scatter table, inaccuracies in calculation of transfer functions, methods for prediction of long-term extreme values, human actions and non-linear effects. The aim of the study is to propose a rational statistical model describing the uncertainty of the extreme vertical wave bending moment for use in ship hull reliability analysis.
