External Social Responsibility of the Slovenian SMEs
The results of the social responsibility research done among Slovenian SMEs indicate their involvement into solving of social issues and their support of external environment. Donations and sponsoring are the main form of predominant sport and cultural activities, followed by education and training activities. Prevailing motives for mainly spontaneous activities, not related to strategies, are the ethical ones. For SMEs the main benefits are of business nature (improved relations with business partners and investors, customer loyalty) and related to community. Without public support and incentives the SMEs see the main barrier for socially responsible activities in lack of money. In the nexst three years the intentions about involvement into external socially responsible activities remain the same. Data collected for the Slovenian SMEs were compared with those of the European SMEs. Many similaritties, as well as differences, were noticed.
corporate social responsibility; external socially responsible activities; small and medium enterprise
