Question of Lightness Difference Formulae
: Based on its natural characteristics, lightness is maybe the most important parameter of colour management. And, according to literature, many experimental results have been reported which demonstrated deviation of the lightness parameter calculated from the spectral reflectance. There are a number of advanced colour difference formulae currently in use that have been extended from CIELAB system. The CMC and CIE94 colour difference formulae are the current ISO standards for the textile and paint. In this paper analysis were performed using two advanced formulae and also using new CMC99 formula for lightness difference evaluation that were integrated into new CIEDE2000 mathematical model. For the analysis three groups of hue samples were chosen ; h* 80 &#8211 ; ; ; 100° (yellow), h* 0 &#8211 ; ; ; 10° ; 350 &#8211 ; ; ; 360° (red), H* 260 &#8211 ; ; ; 280° (blue). According to results obtained, the CIEDE2000 performed more accurately that the two advanced formulae. All results were analysed according to dL* value depending on SL weighting function.
