Globalisation and International Financial Architecture
In the last two decades international financial system has experiences significant structural changes. There has been a large increase in the cross-border financial flows around the worlds, primarily supported by liberalisation of financial markets, technological advancement and financial innovations. Accepting global financial flows and participating in them, bring about many advantages, like: increased and cheaper external financing by using foreign sources, possibility of larger and more profitable investments etc. Global orientation has thus enabled higher profits since controls are less strict and international market has significantly fewer restrictions. However, besides bringing positive results such architecture entails new risks, which could cause instability of national and global market. In the absence of adequate risk management, with inefficient bank regulations, with inadequate legal regulations, financial indiscipline, high indebtedness, etc, there is an increased probability of significant financial and economic disruptions.
