Violet and red laser excitation of rubidium diffuse band induced by collisional population
The processes involved in the population of Rb2 diffuse band through resonant excitation of the Rb atoms were investigated. Near-infrared (780 nm) and violet (420 nm) diode lasers were used for the Rb first (5s1/2-5p3/2) and second (5s1/2-6p3/2) resonant doublet excitation. Laser induced florescence spectra were detected and investigated for different temperatures, buffer gas pressures and excitation wavelengths. The processes responsible for the Rb2 diffuse band population were described by a set of rate equations.
