Mediterranean road ring

The return of Mediterranean basin to highlight in context to global development depends on the stability of the region to a great extent. The overall stability in the region is linked to the existence of an economic equilibrium and a balanced growth. Beside national, religious, cultural and civilizational, diversities and adversities, prospect of cooperation is burdend with a severe development gap betwen Mediterranean economies. Our evaluation of development controversies is led by the inadequacy of contemporary development theory. Second half of 20th century is very rich in development strategy (in the formalized model forms) failures in futile attempts to narow the development gap between developed and less developed countries. Therefore, instaedof formulating another theory or its formalized model we are suggesting Mediterranean "development opening", through "infrastructure surplus capacity". This would mean high investmens in speeded up infrastructure facilities growth and especially investmens in modern road network constuction around Mediterranead sea, as a precondition to market opening and fast economic growth of the whole region. These are the reasons which have stimulated us to suggest the idea of "Mediterranean Road Ring" as a modern superhighway which would "follow" Mediterranean coast at the ecologically acceptable distance. Project magnitude would probably have positive impact on economic growth, employment, tourism and urbanization of the whole region and each single country.
