Small Changes Management Method

This article describes a theoretical background of the method called Small Changes Management Method (SCMM) and presents its application and simplified verification. The approach builds a nonlinear model of a system as first. Changes in the system are then optimized with the aid of genetic algorithms. The SCMM method is an attempt to integrate several advanced information technologies, management methods and some operational research techniques, to obtain an innovative and efficient tool for management of complex systems. SCMM is based on the advantages of the new Knowledge Discovery in Databases (KDD) and Data Mining (DM) techniques that are able to model most complex systems accurately outperforming previously established linear methods. KDD and DM generally create models of complex systems represented by neural networks, rules, decision trees and polynoms. These models are completed with the aid of Web based group decision support systems to create a complete intelligent model of a complex system. Additionally, with the aid of group techniques they identify goals and the way of changes in this complex system. The overall model is a base for optimization of the changes in this complex system with the aid of genetic algorithms. An application of the method is described in the development of the tourism strategy. &laquo ; ; Classical&raquo ; ; linear methods and SCMM are compared and weaknesses and strengths of both approaches are identified.
