Destination Management and Artificial Intelligence: Application of Small Changes Management Method

This article describes an empirical research concerning the applicability of SCMM (Small Changes Management Method) for destination management. SCMM was originally designed by the author to enable management of complex systems. This method integrates several artificial intelligence (AI) techniques (data mining, neural networks, decision trees, fuzzy logic and genetic algorithms) with group decision making methods. The main advantages of the methods are the ability to create models of complex systems such as tourist destinations, integration of knowledge from databases and experts, and using these models to create optimal management actions for the destinations. A theoretical background of the mehod is given and the procedures of using the method are described. Also, an example of real destination management is described with the results that demonstrate all significant advantages of the method.
