Microstructural aspects of sulfide stress corosion in OCTG steels
Corrosion of country tabular goods OCTG is almost always a potential threat, but several tools, techniques and procedures are available to minimize the risk. Among them, metallurgical techniques influencing the microstructural characteristics are very successful in producing the metallic materials which resist to special form of corrosion known as sulfide stress cracking SSC. This phenomena detected in wet H2S enviroments is a form of hydrogen embrittlment HE and significantly degrades the mechanical properties so that sudden failures can occur.
